I'm generally interested in abstract ideas that also - perhaps paradoxically - have a sense of being tangible representations of ambiguous things. I like to imply and suggest form intuitively, so that they are entirely improvised. I also explore landscape in a more conventional way, but again like to improvise and invent spaces as much as observe them. It is the open-ended nature of combining observations, memories, and creating instinctively that I like to work with, so every image or design is a surprise, even though I have fairly regimented processes and starting points. Inspiration for such work can come from found diagrams and illustrations, my own digital manipulations, sketches I make and very spontaneous decisions when composing with colour, shape and and line.
